Daydreaming

Sometimes

Time holds a bite of you in its jaw

Lets it age to memory

Until it’s forgotten

Until it finds itself

On your lips

Or your hands

Or your rib

Years later

And it feels like reflection

Feels like

Exactly where you left it

Like a shadow laying into its own bones

When I think of you

I’m walking backwards into a daydream

Into a tighter skin

Into a time

Where I was different

But same enough
