I’m excited about August.
There truly is no place like home. Before every new chapter, venture, experiment, I like to come home because there’s just something incredibly grounding about being in my childhood home – the house I’ve lived in since three years old, in a room that has played host to every iteration of myself. There’s something magical about being around people that know me best because they’ve been around for all 22 years of it. There’s something precious about checking in, both with how far I’ve come and how far I have to go.
To quote Queen B, where do you go when you get quiet? Where do you go when you need to be grounded? Where do you go or what do you do when you need to hit the reset button?
For the past four years, in August I have been preparing to go to school – to Cornell specifically. And while that chapter in my life is over, I am preparing still to go to school, a new one, a new adventure. So, for me, August is going to be dedicated to getting ready for that, in all areas of my life – mentally, physically, spiritually and emotionally. I know there are some burdens I need to lay down and some crosses I need to pick back up.
So, I’ll ask you again, where do you go when you need to get grounded? And, what are your intentions for the month of August?
