Anybody that knows me knows that I am not the best at eating things that are good for my body. Almost anything green is not welcome on my plate. But as summer approaches (and as I get older and my body is literally begging me to do better), I made the decision to give a healthier lifestyle a try. Because my journey is just starting, I’m not ready to dive headfirst into a bucket of kale yet. So I’ve compiled a list of foods that I’ve found to be both healthy and tasty:
Salmon is a great source of protein that is simultaneously low in calories. This dish has really become my best friend when it comes to getting full, guilt free. Plus, it’s quick and easy to prepare.
2. Baby carrots
If I am going to survive healthy eating, I need to be able to snack! Baby carrots are a filling and healthy snack that have been getting me through the day. They are also an excellent source of vitamin A, which is great for your organs.
You see that Nutribullet collecting dust in your kitchen cabinet? Be good to her. She is your bestie now. Blending the less tasty leafy greens into a smoothie is a great way to sneak more of them into your diet. Add fruits and berries and boom! Now kale is sweet as candy. Smoothies are also a great way to stay cool in summer.
These babies are full of antioxidants. I personally grapple with difficult skin, and in my extensive research on how to combat it blueberries are always mentioned. Finding sweet ones can be a trial and error task, but they make a great snack.
Now hear me out. If you steam it, and drown it in a healthy sauce, it’s delicious. Broccoli is also a very low calorie, high nutrient food. Season it like you mean it and it will be an ally.
