(DJ Khaled ft. Rihanna and Bryson Tiller)
The sound of the familiar and famous strum of the guitar by Carlos Santana came as a delightful surprise for this single. Excitement for the song developed quickly after DJ Khaled shared hints that the Rihanna vocals were in. Shortly after, visuals of a saucy Rih in a skin baring top hyped the internet for more. The single set the tone for summer night dance parties. The lyrics, which are heavily influenced by sultry lustful words, sexual tension and liquor, compliment the chords of the Latin originated song composed by Carlos Santana, Wyclef Jean and others. The song “Maria Maria” was released in 1999 and accompanied a video that illustrated an outside performance, a dance party and a guitar solo of Me. Santana. The trio (DJ Khaled, Rihanna and Bryson Tiller) adopt the original theme and produce some satisfying GIFs of the sexy Bajan being her usual enticing self.
Not to take focus away from Tiller who still maintains his mysterious image while matching Rih’s raunchy lyrics (written by PARTYNEXTDOOR). Lines like “Fuck you til you burn out, cremation” (fans self) stand up against “You know this cookie is for the baking,” the two get wild lyrically.
The second single from Grateful keeps it sexy for the summer and raises expectations for Khaled’s new album, executively produced by his charming newborn Asahd. It’s safe to say we’re all rocking to this joint in preparation for the rest of the album.
