Cardi B & Fashion Nova go hand in hand like peanut butter & jelly. Milk & cookies. Highlighter & the perfect natural glow. From the jump, Cardi has never been ashamed to tell the world that some of her best fits came from the affordable fast-fashion giant, making us regular people even more ready to spend our coins on the site.
Before writing this article, I thought Fashion Nova was an Asian clothing site like the SheIn’s & Zaful’s of the world that just got lucky to have built up such momentum. However, I was way off. Fashion Nova is based in Los Angeles with five retail locations in southern California. The brand prides itself on making the customer ‘the Star’ – someone who exudes confidence & isn’t afraid to rock her own personal style. This is shown in both the clothes they put on the site & models they choose.
My first foray into the Fashion Nova world was when their high-waisted skinny jeans became the hottest trend. Everyone loved the stretchy comfortable material that lifted and sculpted the booty, which aided in giving us all the hourglass figure we so desired. Since then, the brand has grown immensely in popularity, adding hundreds of new styles each week to the site. They’ve even had to accommodate international delivery for buyers outside the United States.
This became a one-of-a-kind shop for curvy girls (& even the wannabes) to find clothes that fit (or create) their shape. No longer would your jeans not fit your waist to accommodate for your hips. Everything would be tailored just right, with an insane amount of choices. Shopping on the site can definitely be overwhelming because of all the options, but I’ll save that discussion for another post.
What Fashion Nova did an amazing job of to continue driving sales was utilizing influencers to show off their clothes. All your favorite, curvy Instagram models were tagging Fashion Nova left and right. They were able to create an ecosystem where consumers wanted to buy the trendy items of their favorite bloggers and YouTubers that could only be found on their site. That sounds like a win for the #NovaBabes who get paid to sport the clothes on their channels & a win for Fashion Nova who in a way monopolized the market for cute curvy-girl friendly clothes.
We all know ‘celebrity’ + brand collaborations are super popular right now, whether that be in makeup or in retail. Brands see no reason to stop driving sales through the face of an influencer. So who better to do a collaboration with Fashion Nova other than budding fashion icon & current shopper, Cardi B.
The Cardi B x Fashion Nova line is set to drop October 2018, which will be the first design collaboration the brand has done. Like Fenty Beauty, I feel like this launch is going to garner so much support & sell out quickly. It’ll be the perfect combination of trendy meets exclusive meets affordable. I can only imagine what Cardi has in store for us. Prepare your wallets ladies, this is sure to be a good one.
