Summer is coming and with it a time where many of us will experiment with different hair styles and products. Here are we few protective styles and products we at The Reign XY are dying to try.
If you like me are attracted to the look of locs, but fear the commitment of actually locing your hair, then faux locs are for us and we need to go see sister Celeste Smith for our install.
I was recently introduced to WEN Hair Care and quickly fell in love with the sound of a one-step process. WEN Hair Care does not have shampoo in its product line, only a cleansing conditioner. Sounds like a great twist on a good co-wash to me! Made of natural botanicals and herbs without sulfates or harsh chemicals, it sounds like a product my hair would love + my hair loves almond oil which seems to be the base of the product. I’m making it a summer goal to test it out!
No stranger to weave, currently every weave I’ve worn has been Malaysian or Brazilian hair. And while I’m all for the sleek slay Malaysian or Brazilian hair provides, the more I embrace my natural hair, the more interested I become in “natural” weaves/wigs. During one of my late night Instagram explore sessions, I came across Lola Akinkuowo’s feed and fell in love with her hair! It comes from Sway hair, in Kinky Curly and I must have bundles and a wig made in its image.
Summer is the perfect time to test out a new wig/weave because who wants to have to worry about doing their own hair before the day party? In addition, leaving your hair alone all summer will guarantee some serious length come fall/winter. All I’m saying is, when you see me with my bomb bundles from Sway hair, don’t say I didn’t put you on.
BlueBerry Bliss Shampoo + Conditioner
I’ve been using Blueberry Bliss’s Twist-N-Shout Cream since October to wonderful results like the twist-out on the above right. I love their Twist-N-Shout Cream because it adds moisture to my hair without weighing it down, smells amazing, and really helps define my twists. My hair always ends up soft, smelling like heaven, and with a poppin’ twist-out. I also started using their edge control. I like it because it lays my edges down without getting them caught up in a bunch of gunk or leaving a ton of residue. To this end, I’d really like to try their whole line of products, especially their shampoo and conditioner.
What’s a summer style or product you’re dying to try? Let us know in the comments.
