As promised, I’m back with the latest happenings in Beauty land. There has been some really cool product releases and goodies I couldn’t wait to share. Remember in the last WTWB I mentioned Jennifer Lopez and Inglot Cosmetics were collaborating to give us a whole collection of makeup? Well it’s finally here! Prices range from $10-$25 – not too shabby.
Beauty Bakerie Cosmetics
On April 19th, the black owned makeup brand launched their Cake Mix Demi-Matte Foundation line ($28). Why is this special? Well, not only does the line offer 30 shades, but the numbers go in order from dark to light. You read that right – dark to light. This is a subtle, but strong message to WOC letting them know the darkest shade is not secondary or an afterthought. Shake the table, Nicole!
If you’re a Prime member, you can order beauty samples (and other kinds of samples) for $2-$4. To make this deal even better, the money you spend on samples goes toward full sized products. Hello samples! Feel free to purchase as many samples as you’d like, just make sure you don’t try to load up on the same item – it’s not allowed. You can however get as many different samples as your heart desires. Amazon is really making that prime membership worthwhile.
Function of Beauty
Have you ever wanted to create your own shampoo and/or conditioner? You know, pick all the ingredients so they better cater to the needs of your hair? Well, Function of Beauty has made that possible. You start by taking the hair quiz where you select all the characteristics of your hair. Then, you select goals you’re looking to accomplish, and bam, a mixture made special for you. Prices range from $36-$49 depending on the size chosen.
If you follow me on Instagram (@nyjats) then you’ve probably seen me posting “That Booty Tho”($28), a scrub made especially for the booties. This scrub is rich in antioxidants and essential fatty acids, which help to combat scars, acne, stretch marks and cellulite. After trying it out, I have to say my booty and I were very pleased with the results (promise I’m not just saying this!).
Colourpop Cosmetics x Shayla
Shayla (@makeupshayla) partnered with Colourpop for her very own collection. Shoutout to her because this is her second major collaboration (the first was with Maybelline). Sis is doing her thing! The collection includes a palette, 3 lipsticks, a lip gloss, and 2 highlighters ($59 for the whole collection – you can also purchase items separately).
This black owned brand offers makeup and several face care products, but honey? Let’s get into this Sunflower Sweets Serum (from $22). The face oil has ingredients to help unclog pores, reduce breakouts and even skin tone. Every person I know who has tried this, loves it. It’s light and hydrating, and I’ll be purchasing another when my bottle runs out.
Until next time Beauty lovers!
